Our most recent field programme at Motzfeldt in 2023 was focused on furthering our understanding of the Rare Earth Element (REE) mineralisation at each locality; more specifically, locating REE-enriched veins in situ at the Aries deposit and sampling a mineralised metallic vein structure at the Merino target area. Both of these features have never previously been investigated thoroughly despite their REE enrichment. At Aries, the target mineralisation was located in outcrop, revealing it to be genetically related to late magmatic/hydrothermal processes within the Motzfeldt roof zone. At Merino, the metallic vein structures were located in situ and sampled. Grab samples showed elevated REE enrichment, including a Heavy Rare Earth Element (HREE) enriched sample containing ~2000 ppm Y. Drone footage of the cliff faces revealed that these structures are of significant scale, and prevalent throughout the Merino peninsula on both northern and southern flanks.

Our updated model suggests that Aries represents a lower crustal level exposure of the same roof zone at Merino. This has significant implications for future exploration, as it indicates the presence of an Aries-like pyrochlore deposit below Merino which, if confirmed, would substantially increase the overall scale of the Motzfeldt Resource.  The Stallion team is now in the process of designing a follow-up field programme for 2024 in order to explore the Merino mineralisation at depth.

In Stallion’s 2018 field programme, a two-tonne bulk sample was collected from the Aries Deposit, which comprises the Resource area.  This bulk sample will serve as the input material for detailed metallurgical and processing studies. In addition, the high-grade Voskop Rare Earth Target was extensively sampled, and reconnaissance was undertaken of a number of potential infrastructure sites.
