Elemental Rare Earths Ltd is the owner and developer of one of the largest undeveloped Niobium-Tantalum-Zirconium-Rare Earths Project in the world, the Motzfeldt Deposit in Southern Greenland.

Motzfeldt has a substantial defined JORC Mineral Resource of 340mt with a contained metal inventory of 1,564,000 tonnes of Zirconium (ZrO2), 884,000 tonnes of Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO), 629,000 tonnes of Niobium (Nb2O5) and 41,000 tonnes of Tantalum (Ta2O5).

Motzfeldt is well located to take advantage of logistical and infrastructure advantages, being close to the town of Narsarsuaq, with its harbour and international airport. The presence of other major rare earth resources in the Gardar Province, including the Kringleme Deposit, offers infrastructure-sharing opportunities.

Location

Motzfeldt is located in the Gardar Province in Southern Greenland, just 24km from the town, harbour and international airport of Narsarsuaq.

Investor Centre

Because Motzfeldt is a multi-element mining project, Elemental is able to significantly reduce commodity risk. The existing defined Resource includes:

  • Tantalum, a critical component in electrical capacitors, 60% of which is produced in conflict countries;

  • Niobium, a light, super-resistant-metal which is used in steel (pipelines, nuclear reactors, satellites, cars);

  • Zirconium, a heat & corrosion-resistant metal, with uses in nuclear reactors (which accounts for 90% of its demand) and as an alloy hardening agent; and

  • Rare Earths, with 18% of the JORC Resource of 884,000 tonnes of TREO being comprised of high-value Neodymium, Praseodymium & Dysprosium.

News & Media

  • In Elemental’s most recent field programme, which was undertaken in 2019, a two-tonne bulk sample was collected from the Aries Deposit, which comprises the Resource area. This bulk sample will serve as the input material for detailed metallurgical and processing studies. In addition, the high-grade Voskop Rare Earth Target was extensively sampled, and reconnaissance was undertaken of a number of potential infrastructure sites.
